I don't know if anyone has read the Mail today but you ought to see what Barclaycard did to a lady whose identity was stolen - that company must employ bully boys. How on earth does a firm like that keep its licence- surely if the FSA look into this site then they ought to do something about them. J

Talk about left hand/right hand - just had a call from an outfit representing Barclaycard - doing a customer satisfaction survey!! I was very polite but did tell them that their debt recovery people need to be given lessons in manners. I also directed them to the Mail article not that they will read it. Any other B/C customers on here will likely get the same call sooner or later.

I'm sympathetic to the lady for her problems but I do feel this is a typical Daily Mail story. If you carry on reading the Mail you will end up paranoid!

Thanks Johnny - I was looking in the wrong place!

I am presuming that the post must have been intercepted somehow as I would have thought that she would have received things through the post unless the impersonater put down a 'mail drop' address.

Whilst no one has ever applied for credit in my name, my credit card details have been used on two occasions - once in 1987 and once in 2005. Both times, Lloyds TSB were excellent at sorting out that it wasn't me who had used it.

The last time I had problems, I did report it to the police and was advised to take out a CIFAS subscription. This effectively means that it is not easy for anyone to get credit in your name as you have to jump through a few more hoops.

It won't be relevant to most people who post on here, but I'll post the link anyway:

Someone used my name once. My catalogue sent letters to my old address as well as my new one and the people in my old house opened a new account, First of all things they ordered came to my new house so I rang them and told them I hadn't ordered anything, then two years later I couldn't change my bank account because i had default on my credit account. Someone had ordered things from the catalogue and not paid for them. Luckily It was only one company and I was able to proove when I left the address and my file was corrected. I wanted to call the police on the pople who did it but was told that the police won't do anything. So its not a crime then?? it is and its bad.

I read the mail and saw this feature. Whilst I symapathise with the lady, I can't believe she let it run 3 years before resolving it!
