That's it! The last payment into my IVA has left my bank account today. Five years ago today, I made my first payment and those five years and 60 payments stretched out ahead of me like a prison sentence. But after a few payments, I got into the swing of things and it got a bit easier. And now... I'm done! For the first time since I got my first job, I am debt-free. And I know I have done my very best to pay my debts.

I just want to pay tribute to all the people who have posted on this forum, having the courage to ask the questions I daren't ask and to thank the experts for answering those questions. And thank you to all members who maybe couldn't answer the questions, but instead sent out virtual hugs and kind words. When you are feeling as low as you possibly can, even a few nice words can make your day a little brighter. I just wish I had found this forum when I started my IVA in 2005 because it has been a Godsend! Thanks everyone.

And now I should be celebrating, but I'm snowed in, so I've danced round the house with the hoover instead of going to work. Besides which, no-one knows about my IVA, so even if I could go out and celebrate, I couldn't tell anyone what for! So, I'll just tell you.

Thanks again everyone.

Julie what a ray of sunshine on an otherwise awful day, well done and congratulations on completing your IVA. I hopefully will be in the same place in 30 months time (fingers xd that my creditors won't extend my IVA to 72 months due to lack of equity). I know what you mean by the snow, for the first time in 30 years i have not been able to get into work, this is the worst snow i have seen and 1981 takes some beating. Good luck for the future, enjoy yourself now, take care and be safe. x

Hi helen thankfully i had two days annual leave outstanding and surely you could argue that you did try and get into work etc. Im not too sure of the reception i will recieve when i hopefully when i go in on friday but as there were 8 of us with myself being the furthest north not able to get in i don't feel too bad and will certainly be negociating on a health and safety basis.

Hi Julie - well done on completing your IVA! I can imagine you dancing with the hoover [:D]

Good luck with your future xx

H - unless it states in your contract that you won't get paid, then your employer cannot legally deduct salary from you. With the government telling people not to travel, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on if you queried it.

I closed our office today as I have a duty of care for my employees to get home safely. Thye'll all be getting paid.

Where I work, if you get into work in bad weather, regardless of how late it is, then you get a full days pay. However, if you have to leave early for the same reason, then you lose time!

I didn't go in today at all as there was no way I would have got the car out.
