I've just been on a comparison site and realised that I could save £546 per year approx by switching energy suppliers. Does anybody know if beacause I'm in an IVA i'll have any difficulties, credit checks spring to mind?

Is that quote based on the actual amount of energy you are using or on what they will set your direct debit at? to save that amount a year to be honest sounds more like they are going to set your DD artificially low just to get your business.

I know British Gas are difficult, even before we had our IVA they wanted around £100 from us up front before they would take us on even though we had never defaulted on any payments or anything, I don't know what they are like now.

If you are in any arrears with your current supplier you won't be able to switch until you have repaid all that is outstanding.

Having said all that, I don't know what suppliers are like these days as I haven't switched or attempted to during our IVA so perhaps someone else can advise

That is actually based on the amount of energy I use. My house is all electric and it seems extortionate that I use 21000 units for a three bed semi.(9000 daytime)(12000 economy7 nightime)With the cheaper tariff per unit with scotish power that is the monetary value I would save per annum. I spend £175 per month DD and that would stay the same. Do you know if they do credit checks? I will probably still have a problem since my last reading stated I was £300 in arrears.
