Hi all

Today, the last payment went out of my bank account to thankfully end a LOOOOOONG 5 years.

It has been tough, but we can now breath a sigh of relief that we can now get on with our lives and to make things better, the last amount that has come out was not as much as I first thought, so a pleasant suprise there too. I have been told that it can take up to six weeks to get my certificate of completion.

A quick question:
We started our IVA in Sept 2010 and had a six month break for the purchase of a new car. That would have taken us to March 2016, but we had two further payments to introduce extra money from overtime with work.

Will this mean that if everything drops off our credit file at year six, we will have a clean record by September??? I hope so.

A big THANKS to all that have given support on the forum. I know I wasn't a regular, but you were here when we needed help. Please keep up the good work and I will try and keep calling back. Besides it's not over until I get my certificate and then I will need advice on rebuilding my history, so I wont be going anywhere too fast.

Congratulations. The iva should drop off the credit files 6 years after it started.

Enjoy your new found wealth!

Well done - enjoy the extra money you have now. I made my last payment in March this year and have since put my monthly payments into my savings!! I've never had £800 in savings ever & it will just keep going up now!
Hope you enjoy the freedom now - the 5 yrs are worth it!!!

Congratulations .... now on the final steps of the road to being debt free and rebuilding your credit file.

The last defaults and IVA should drop off mine in August, already have my Capital one card arrived and 2 lots of fuel on which will be paid off in full at the end of the month.

Good luck to all nearing the end of theirs.

Hi
My IVA started March 2010 and was a 6 year one. I made the final payment March 2016 and my completion certificate arrived last week so only took 2 months. I did the free credit file with Call Credit ( NOddle ), and i also paid for a one off credit file with Equifax and Experian for £2 each rather than signing up for the free trial and then having to mess about trying to cancel them. EVERYTHING has dropped off my file. I went on Money saving expert and did a credit card checker and it brings up which cards i will 100% be gauranteed to apply for with my circumstances without doing lots of different applications for different cards. I was accepted straight away for a Luma Card with £1500 credit. Im only wanting it to build my credit file up again. spending little and often and repaying in full.
Things are really going good at the min with our Holiday booked and savings in the bank.
congratulations and good luck with the future

Well done .... yes, provided you have the CC by the 6th anniversary, your files should start clearing ---- do check the default dates are close to the start date of the IVA. Have a read here:
