Since February I have been recording how much my wife and my weekly shop including toileties etc.

We are averaging £83 per week which works out at approx £360 per month.(I should point out that due to a low salt diet we buy fresh meat, fish etc and nothing pre-packed or in tins

How do all you fare with your shopping and is £360 per month realistic or in excess of our monthly allowance.

The 360.00 how many is this for ?

We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children and we have £400.00 per month, although I am managing it is difficult cause the cose of food keeps rising I shall be looking for a rise at review time

Two of us have £280 a month - £65 a week- it is a struggle to do it on these days as the cost of food shopping just keep rising and rising!

We have got it down to £60.00 a week at Tesco's for me, hubby and 6 yr old son. I must admit we buy the value brand now and we don't have many luxuries!!! [:(]

So you are doing well, chicken is normally the only meat we buy and that lasts for a couple of meals.[:)]

The CCCS say a married couple with no children should spend between £185 to £295 per month on shopping.

Melanie - is that right - per week??? That seems an awful lot to me.

does that include non food items ie. toiletries, newspapers, stationery for computer, light bulbs etc.

The CCCS will allow £5 per month for newspapars, but the rest has to come from housekeeping.
