Hi

I need some help with food costs and what is your allowance first off in your iva?

What foods can I bulk cook that I can freeze then just get out of freezer for dinner as work long hours and need something we can just heat and eat together that's wholesome and good

Where do you shop and what do you normally get? And cook

Thank you for your support and help

A single person is allowed around £170 per month (guideline) - £225 (maximum) and a couple £287 (guideline) - £354 (max).

I used to ( and still do) bulk cook with mince -- padded out with mushrooms. You can use some with mash to make cottage pies, some with tomato puree to make a spag. bol.. Throw in some chilli powder and peppers and have with rice.

I just freeze the meat part and boil up rice and pasta at the time of reheating -- you can throw it in a pan of boiling water while reheating the meat.

By the way -- allowances for a couple and child would be around £360 (guideline) and £440 (max). The dog should be allowed £25 - £35 a month on top for food and insurance.

Interesting, Payplan told the most i could claim for 2 adults and 2 kids is approx 450. I felt this was a bit tight for us, my kids eat a lot but im sure not out of the ordinary.

Guideline figures for 2 adults and two children would be i.r.o £525 max for the household shop. School lunches etc can be added on top of this ... but, as has been said, Payplan do things their own way!
