Only a little thing, but my debt rehabilitation seems to be working to plan... Thanks Melanie! [:)]

Yesterday, my vacuum cleaner blew up in a spectacular manner, with lots of smoke coming out the back. It is, to coin a phrase, b*ggered beyond repair. So, I duly toddled around to my grans house and ordered a new vacuum cleaner from her catalogue so that I could borrow the money and pay her over 2 months rather than find the money now. I ordered a very nice vacuum for £89 - it needs to be robust as there is a lot of pet hair in this house... [;)]

So, whilst looking through the catalogue, I see a CD player/stereo for £120. I asked her to order it for me as my stereo got broken by the cat when he knocked it off the table. It plays, but it has "quirks", shall we say.

But, all last night, I felt sick. I can't really afford a new CD player, although it *would* be fairly easy to find the money over a few months by being very careful. It did seem an indulgence though. Before the IVA, I'd have just shoved it on a credit card and not thought about it. I also wouldn't have appreciated it.

This morning however, after mulling it over all night, I cancelled the CD/Stereo and I am just getting the hoover. I've decided to *put up* with the "quirks" on my current one.I feel better because I don't feel like I'm wasting money. [:)]

It's really wierd the things that start your day off in a good way!!

BTW, Skippy, I got your email and I'll reply later today when I've had a chance to have a think on it!

Well done RC! It's amazing how it makes you think isn't it. My stereo has a few quirks shall we say and I want to get it repaired but at the moment it's having to wait. A while ago I would have just bought a new one, but I'm putting up with it until I can afford the repair.

We could do with a more heavy duty hoover despite only having one cat - he should be as bald as a badger with the amount of fur he leaves everywhere! I did think of spraying him with that stuff that's supposed to keep the needles on a Christmas tree to see if it makes any difference!

Thanks for your help with Harry! I should have said that he seems very content and doesn't worry me for food.

BTW I was only joking about the Christnas tree stuff, in case anyone thinks I'm serious and reports me!

We can't win - we've got cream rugs so Harry's black hair collects on them, and if I change them to dark brown his white fur will collect!

Yes we have combed him and he loves it - unless you comb his tummy...

Ah, that's cute, Nia can't stand anyone stroking her back let alone comb it!

I was in the local furniture charity shop yesterday having a mooch around. They have some great bargains in TVs and hoovers etc.

I tried registering for Freecycle but I gave up - it seemed to take forever, and I then had to create a Yahoo profile to go on the site so as I was at work I gave up!

The stupid thing is I only want one thing - a cast iron fireplace! All the maisonettes in our road originally had lovely tiled cast iron fireplaces, but the one in ours has been ripped out. I really want to replace it, but they cost a fortune, so I'm looking for a second hand one. I might have another go at registering with Freecycle in case anyone wants to get rid of one!

I got refused by Freecycle Skippy. shame really cos I have a nice 24" TV, and a Goodmans DVD player looking for a new home. Ah well, their loss.

I have been trying to register with Freecycle but with no success...I think they need to get shot of the Yahoo groups aspect, personally.

I got a fab Dyson off eBay once...recently serviced and overhauled for £80 - and it was within easy collection distance. Bargain!!!

Might be using that link Ray posted for the comet auctions as the gas oven is pants and not big enough for a family of 4.

That was the problem I had Angelrainbow - I couldn't be bothered with the Yahoo groups!
