There have been loads of past posts with regards to the IVA council non of them complimentary.
Why do you ask?

I ask becuase i received a letter from them. I was just wondering really. Got me thinking that my IP takes £55 plus VAT per month from my contribution of £286 per month. I thought that was quite a lot.

Ah right, as I said loads of people have posted with regards to the council. Alot of them have had letters stating that they may have ben mis sold their IVA, it's all rubbish.
Can you give more detail regards your contact with them?

If your IP doesnt get it, your creditor will...both ways you still have to pay £286 a month.
Remember IPs area bit like solicitors and they dont come cheap!!

Have a quick glance at this ...
http://www.iva.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11571
and then this
http://www.iva.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12577
Your IVA has been agreed and your
creditors have determined the level of the IP's fees. The creditors are happy with what they are getting in return.
Do you have any reason to feel you have been mis-sold your IVA?
If you have, initially contact your IP and if you remain unsatisfied after that contact the IP's licensing body and NOT the IVA Council.
The IVA Council impose their views on you that simply because you are in an IVA, you have been mis-sold that IVA.
They claim to target only IVA factories - That is an untruth, they target every IP.
They are simply on a fishing exercise and attempting to panic people. If you visit their website you will see that they are very anti IVA and from my own personal experience if you question them or their motives they are aggressive and also in my case, they ban you from posting on their site.
They have no other information about you other than what is on the EIIR. They know nothing about your own personal circumstances.
They are not qualified to give any advice and are a front for a company that charges you over a grand to fill out some forms and make you bankrupt. There is not an ounce of professionalism in them at all.
The letter could serve as one of two things ... toilet paper or if you get stranded somewhere late at night, you could start a small fire with it and keep warm. Other than that ... bin it. If you have issues with your IP, resolve them
with your IP. If you cannot resolve it with your IP then their Licensing Body is your next port of call. None of that will cost you anything other than the price of a stamp or two.

Ok. I understand and I believe my IP's fees are reasonable to what I have heard. I've got no problem really and happy with the IVA to be honest. Simply received a letter and was wondering what it was all about. I got one last year from debt doctor. My IP, well the company, work well and also respond to my emails within a matter of days, unlike some others I hear about. All is well. Going to shread the lettr now.

This company have publicly apologised to me on two occasions for circulating my clients, and lo and behold a third set of letters to my clients are now doing the rounds. A clear demonstration that they simply cannot be trusted.

Oh my God, not another letter incompletely addressed to Mr X in a see through envelope, there are 3 of us in the house and I'd like to keep this private if you know what I mean, I've had 2 from them already. I've told them to stop mailing me and to remove me from their mailing lists. Surely they MUST comply those dirt bags.
On the subject of IP Fees well the way I think about it is that the creditors are paying for it. There is very little chance that I will end up paying back 100p in the pound unless I have a windfall, which I think is very unlikely.
Was the 3rd letter sent around the 21st April by any chance, hopefully that was it and not the second.

For those of you that like to keep an eye on these things, the IVA Council website has disappeared, I cannot access it anywhere under any search terms. As I have posted periodically on there, I have even tried via my hotmail account to access old threads and replies with no luck.
May of course just be a case of the site being redesigned or subject to maintenance but the last time I looked the traffic was stagnant and I have heard no further news on the much trumpeted "hundreds of test cases being looked at by a senior Q.C."
Very interesting.
Regards.
