Hi Everyone,
Could any one please tell me if we apply for an IVA does our sons wages have to be included in our income?, as none of the depts are his and we do not want him to find out about it as we feel ashamed enough!!. We have included on the enquiry form his Board/Loggings but as he will be buying his own house in the future (HOPEFULLY) we have not included his wages only our own.
Thanks Maxie

Hi Maxie,
You will have to declare his board / lodgings as income. I don't think it needs to go any further than that though.

I would tell your ip that he is going to leave in the near future so they will not add his board/lodgings to your iva payment as he could go the week after everything is set up and you will be down straight away its a struggle enough[:D]
good luck

Thanks for your reply's
That's a big relief, we have told our IP what we get from him as lodgings/Board but was unsure if we needed to include his wages also.
Thanks again its great to know when you think of these questions there is always some one there to help, Don't know what we would have done over these past few weeks with out you kind people out there
Just one more question, We have just sent our enquiry form off and we speaking to our IP tomorrow, if we was to be taken on Board (so to speak) how long would it be before we don't have to pay our creditors? we have some CCards to pay very soon (we haven't defaulted on any yet) but it will be a real struggle !!

Maxie - Your IP should have told you to stop paying your creditors already. It does take a while to sort out and I won't pretend its an easy time waiting for the IVA to be approved. You will get phonecalls and letters chasing for repayment but please try to be strong. You are going in the right direction.
Please call your IP to confirm you don't have to make anymore payments to your creditors.

i wouldnt pay anymore money to your creditors till you find out about the iva. They should have told you this if creditors get in touch just tell them you are in the process of an iva.

Thanks All,
We are in the first stages, only sent off and enquiry form back last night, haven't spoke to our IP yet, doing that tomorrow, hopefully with a lot of luck, (don't seem to have had much of that lately) She will be able to give us some idea if the proposable is viable if it is, should we not pay any more money to the creditors?? or do we have to wait untill further down the line, sorry about all the questions could ask the IP tomorrow but know I will not sleep tonight thinking about it.
Thanks Maxie

I would stop paying your creitors and try and put some aside for a contigency plan. That's what the people who are going into IVA's have mostly done.

We will discuss this with you directly, but just make sure that you are not relying upon your son's board and lodging money as part of your IVA contributions, if he is about to move out shortly.
Look forward to catching up soon.
