Hi, can anyone tell me if there is soneone we could go to who could look through mine and my husband's IVA papers and tell us if Payplan are right? We are coming up to the end of our first year and have been trying to sort it out since it started. We've even had someone from Payplan come to our house to explain things but we still don't think it's right. I see little point in asking Payplan about this again as they just baffle us with figures. We thought of going to Citizens' Advice but aren't sure if anyone there would have the specialist knowledge to deal with us. If anyone can help we'd be really grateful.

If not too personal post exactly what you are unsure of and somebody on here may know the answer. Make sure it is not too personal though.....

Good luck X

The Citizens Advice Bureau staff are well informed about IVAs and I am sure will be able to help you. Alternatively, you could contact Paul Johns of Reviva who often acts as mediator between IPs and their clients where difficulties often arise from communication problems. I am sure that Paul would be happy to look at your paperwork if you were able to scan or fax it to him.

I don't know if I would bother with the CAB, I first went to find out about council housing advice and when I told CAB we were proposing an IVA, they became very concerned and said we had been mis-sold it and wanted me to put a complaint in!

We later on went bankrupt

If you later on went BR did CAB not get it right that the IVA was mis sold??

I found CAB to be very well informed on money matters, though I imagine every office will be different.

Thanks for the replies. Payplan admitted that they made a mistake working out my husband's pay on the initial papers but still want the amount they say from his 50% of additional income. Now they are going to call a creditors's meeting at which they will submit a new I&E and ask for our combined payment to be reduced by over £100 per month, and they say that there is a very good chance that the creditors will accept. I cannot see this happening as initially we had to pay more than was originally offered anyway. We have spent the year trying to sort this out with no success. I contacted the IP by email voicing our concerns and he told Payplan to sort it out. As I said, a member of staff came to see us but I have my doubts as to their motives. Could they get in trouble for taking so long to try to resolve our issues? They just seem to be overly helpful.

Hi
If they can get your payments redeuced by £100 will you be able to continue with your IVA ?

Yes we'd be able to continue. The monthly payment was never the issue, ti is the 50% which caused the most concern.
