It never rains but pours. ( Quite apart from ALL the other sh*t I
have going on.... Please could my dog have some major prayers?

I've just got back from the ER vet where I've had to leave Cara for an operation. She was out with at the beach my dog walker today whilst I was at work, and apparently, she went after a stick that someone threw. She apparently then pulled it away from another dog, and it broke.....

She's been coughing on and off most of the afternoon, but nothing
really significant. This evening she started gagging and choking, and so I took her straight up to the ER vet. She's got to have a general anaesthetic and an endoscopy before the offending piece of stick is removed from her windpipe.

I try very hard not to throw sticks for my dogs as I have seen the
damage they cause and today has proved why. I hope to god the
insurance pays for this, because I am looking at a bill of £800- £1000. If I have to pay it upfront I have absolutely no fcuking idea where I'll get the money from, so prayers please that the practice manager lets the claim go direct to the insurance and not via my £0 bank balance!

So sorry to hear about your dog - as you know mine is pretty precious to me as well and I know just how you feel as she needed a major op this year too.

Just as well you have some experience of working with animals to spot when things were not right. I am sure she will be find once the item has been removed. And focus on this and let me worry about your adjourned IVA. We are on the case!

So sorry to hear about your dog. Fingers crossed the insurance will pay.
I have a parrot and wish i had insured her because about 4 years ago she cost a fortune in vets bills. Luckily no bother since but you just never know.
Fingers crossed also for good news on the IVA front

I really hope your dog gets better soon. My cat had an accident not long after we started our IVA. We were told she would not pull through but made a full recovery-Thank God.
I had no money to pay the bill but the vet accepted the fact we had insurance and reluclantly accepted the £50.00 excess until the payout came through.

I am thinking of you and your beloved dog. I too have a dog who is most precious to me, he is like my baby (I know that sounds stupid, but I don't have children).

My feeling is, if the Vet is an animal lover (which you hope to God he/she is, being a Vet), they are going to do the operation no matter what. They know you are insured so I am sure that they will make an exception to their rules if you explain the situation to them (not about you being in an IVA, but you not having any surplus cash). This must happen all the time.

I'm wishing Cara well, and please let us know how she gets on.

Oh Robbiecat, I do hope cara is ok. i to have dogs and would be heart broken if any thing was to happen to them.

Will keep my fingers crossed for her speedy recovery along with the vet allowing you to claim via your insurance rather than paying and claiming back.

My dog is one of the most precious things in the world to me and I can totally understand how you are feeling.

I hope you have some positive news about Cara today, and she is better.

My vet is really good about claiming direct from Petplan and I am sure with the amount your bill could potentially be surely they will understand that you do not have this large amount readily available.

Hi Robbiecat,just wanted to wish you and Cara well,we have an 8 month old Jack Russell called Bruce and i'm afraid he is a "typical" terrier in that if there's a hole he thinks he can get down he will try!!He is always up to mischief and i do worry it will end in a vets visit! I'm sure that the payment side of things will be fine xx
