I really cannot believe it! [:D]

It is one year today since we were declared bankrupt, although we did get early discharge. People told me that I would have no chance of a council house as we left our house for repossession and subsequently went bankrupt, I am not sure how other areas in the country work but I think we have been VERY lucky to get a house.
I have been on the waiting list for 18 months, I recently wrote a letter to the council asking if we could be re-assessed for medical reasons and we were successful in getting some extra points and we were awarded a house yesterday, 3 bed semi, just been renovated, new kitchen, new bathrooms, new windows and doors, new central heating system, its even been decorated! All I need to do is buy some carpets and an oven! Feel so lucky to have a permanent home again, and the rent is half what we are paying now! So we are on the move again (I find it really stressful) but this will definitely be the last time!

To everyone in debt, struggling, there is hope and things WILL get better! I was a mess last year, (still am sometimes) but there is hope.

I have not been sleeping cos of the stress but now I cannot sleep as I am too excited[:D]

Jane

I am so pleased for you. I often think how desperately hard it must be to have to lose a home. This must be especially hard for people with children, going on a waiting list, being told you have no chance, even finding a private rental when you have debt problems can be a nightmare. ~Then not knowing where youre going to end up.....

How fantastic, I am so pleased for you. I have followed your journey and know how hard it has all been.

Good luck with the house, this is now your brand new start.

Cheers
