Well today was the day.
I am now officially bankrupt, number 238 of 2007!!!!
Today is the start of my new life.
It has been hard, but feel relief now it is all done, i tried my best with trying an IVA, however as you all know a creditor gave unrealistic modifications. They would have been so much better off!
Thanks to everyone who has provided support to me and Skip thanks for the chat earlier cheered me up!

Rachel
Please dont worry
If you read my posts from earlier i was a complete wreck.
This site gave me the strength to go on, and even though everyone said it would be a relief once order confirmed i didn't believe them. I creied right the way through the clerk checking my paperwork and the usher even went to get me a tissue and came back with a Toilet roll!!!
Once it was over i cried some more - relief i think
Please dont worry trust me these things make us stronger!

Thankyou Zoe,
I really wish that I had posted earlier when we were sorting the IVA, to know that other people are going through the same thing and the advice that everyone gives is such a great comfort. I think the fact that everyone will know my business as I tend to keep myself to myself if you know what I mean is whats bothering me, but we need to start living a normal life, I tried for an IVA so I know that I have done all I can to pay back as much as I can and this really is the final option.
I must remember to take some tissues!
thanks again

Perhaps it might console you to think that what you have done will help others who want to do IVA's in the future.
There are just too many examples of creditors voting uncommercially, trying to force debtors in to DMP's that will take a lifetime to pay off or putting through draconian modifications in the belief that the debtor hasn't the courage to enter bankruptcy.
The more people there are like you who try to come to terms with their creditors but in the face of rejection chose bankruptcy, the more likely it is that creditors will have to adopt a more commercial and human response.
Little comfort I know but you tried your best and the creditors lose. Best of luck for the future.

Good Luck Zoe
This will be the start of a better life for you and your family. That creditor made a bad decision which is probably small fry in the overall picture of things. BR yields next to zilch for them but I think an IVA is rub hands time for them. I know they like a quick return but for most applicants it is a 5 year plod down life's road. Anyway, you gave it your best shot and that's all you can do.
Happy future

Hi There Catallus
I really dont think that the creditor concerned thought i had the courage to go bankrupt!
When i spoke to the solicitors who are acting on their behalf they advised that they were not really expecting it and that this creditor would not be happy. Indeed when i called the solicitor to advise i was going bankrupt, they actually called the creditor and they said go ahead anyway. The solicitor said that alot of people bluff! So they really didn't believe me. The thing is i really really tried and was prepared to do an IVA to pay them off!
