Once I enter my IVA or BR (jury still out at the moment on which) can I keep my Abbey Bank Account as long as I cancel the overdraft facility?

I just changed to them from HSBC as they are a creditor, it has been a pain to swap and it's all now settled down. It's a joint account too so would cause some hassle for the Mrs!!

Don't see any reason why not as long as they weren't a creditor.

This will of course be at the discretion of Abbey, but I cannot see why not.

When we changed our bank account, we went with Abbey, who are part of the Santander Group - in fact, today they have written to say that they are changing their name to Santander. One of our creditors is G E Money, who have also just advised us in the past few days that they are also now a part of the Santander Group and are now called Santander Cards. Does this mean that we will have to change bank accounts again? I do hope not, because we have only just got all the direct debits, etc. sorted out and we did open the account with Abbey two months ago and in pefect innocence.

No, you should not need to change accounts as although they are rebranding, I believe they will all be run seperately.

HI

Abbey arent Bankruptcy friendly and will freeze your account if you go bankrupt, However if the do they dont cancel Direct Debits, as this happened to me and they are now chasing for £140 of charges even though they have been sent my Bankruptcy certificate (copy) and the OR have told them
