Hi Ian
Welcome to this site!
It tends to help if you can provide us with a bit more info and please don't be shy we have all been there and we can help.
As for the future you will lose your normal banking support ie cheque book and credit cards!
You can get an account with an electron card and you can get a form of credit card with cashplus mastercard.
So in the end you will still be able to purchase items from shops but your life will change because you have to give up a lot of luxuries!

Hi
If your current bank account is not one of your creditors then you should be able to keep it open[unless its with first direct or HSBC].You will need to ensure that you do not have an overdraft.
If your current bank is one of your creditors then it is advisable to open a new basic account with a non creditor.

get a basic bank account set ASAP and transferfer all DDs that are not payments to creditors and salary paynmetns to it, if your current ban is one of your creditors the least they will do is freeze your account.
