I am 4 months into my IVA.

My wife has asked if we can open a joint account. I imagine this is not possible with me being in an IVA.

Can anyone give me advice if this is possible?
Could she open the account in her name and then add me afterwards?
Would I be able to have a debit card on the account as 2nd person?

Thanks

Being in an IVA does not stop a bank from giving you and your wife a joint account - but probably better to go to your existing bank who already know you are in an IVA presumably? I also see no reason why you could not have a debit card.

Thanks Melanie.

I have a basic account with Nationwide (no debit card just a cash card) but my wife banks with Natwest (who were a major creditor).

I opened my account before my IVA so don't know if they know about it. Will that matter?
