...but I am due a bonus at the end of this month around £2k...do I have to pay this in at all or some of it or would it be wise to pay some in? I do need some of this money for work clothes (suit, shirts, ties and shoes) and also some utility bills where the monthly DDM hasn't fully covered the bill, but i'm happy to pay some in after bought what I've needed and paid off the bills. I don't really have enough disposible income each month to save to afford these things otherwise.

Also if my salary increases enough am I allowed to save any money...ideally I'd like to save £25-£50 a month at some stage in the next 6 months once my salary has been reviewed

Hi AM

What do the terms of your proposal say? It is usual to have to pay over 50% of any additional earnings by way of overtime, commissions and bonuses - but if you do not have that provision in your IVA the Supervisor may ask for you pay it all over.

If you have essential expenditure, this must be borne by the half you may be entitled to retain, and if not do submit a wish-list to your Supervisor who I would hope would see things on a reasonable basis.

I am afraid that general savings are not usually permitted during an IVA - if you have more disposable income then this should be requested by your Supervisor. Obviously if you have provisions for car and house maintenance, and miscellanous expenditure these should be saved until they are needed.
