Don't worry Melanie, I'm not panicking, but I have a question! I have read Kerri's post on the BR webiste, and the CAB say that as a guideline a grocery allowance is £35 per week per adult. My bills are higher than that, as I have to limit dairy products dor health reasons and this makes things more expensive! For example 4 pints of cows milk are just over £1, but 1 litre of soya milk is £1.27 so it's getting towards double the price!
My question is, will the OR accept that, as I have no medical proof (the doctor just gave me tablets which I was unhappy about taking), or will they think I am being unreasonable? At the moment I have put £330 on my SOA for groceries 2 people, but I am worried they will think this is a bit high, but I don't want to end up in the same situation as I was in the IVA!

The OR will definately accept your argument here Skippy, but I do suggest that you keep your weekly shopping receipts for the next few weeks as evidence. £330 seems a reasonable sum for shopping - but do make sure that this is what you actually spend.

Thanks Melanie. Like I said I'm not panicking, but I just don't want to make the same mistake twice! I'm going to have to find out some shopping receipts as I won't need to go for a couple of weeks, and I am planning on going to court 2 weeks on Thursday - oh well, I must have some somewhere!

£35 seems a bit on the low side, it's only £5 a day.
There's a principle that in bankruptcy you should be allowed 'reasonable', not 'basic'.
Would have thought the CAB would be aware of that.

I hadn't looked at it like that G4B! It doesn't seem a lot thinking about it like that!

Hi Skippy
I have put £368 for a family of 3 making it £85 per week as i still have to purchase nappies for the little one, when i completed my expediture i have a negative figure of approx £400 and this is just putting the necessaties down, so i think they might as well put me down now so not sure even how this is going to work out, but saying this if the BR is accepted and we do not have to pay the IVA mat would be able to pay me some money which would bring my the figure back to a 0, but this will not allow any payments to be made to the OR,
What do i do??
(I apologise for my keyboards poor spelling and grammar)

You can only be honest Coco, otherwise you will end up in the same situation as you were in during your IVA - that is exactly the situation we both want to avoid.
Good luck Coco - do you have your court date yet?

hello coco, go_for_broke is correct. The OR is aware that BRs are entitled to 'reasonable' and not basic deductions. You have a baby still in disposable diapers. Don't worry about it. It will be accepted; and keep receipts in the event the OR requires evidence.
Also, if you can't pay an IPA...then you don't. There is a chart on the bankruptcy site showing the IPA percentages and when one begins to pay into it. Good luck, coco.
Take care [:)]

hello old lady, I mean...ermmm...skippy 13[:)]. The amount spent per person you were given by the CAB was wrong. No way a human can eat £35 a week not resemble Twiggy (1960's).You eat what you eat and a br will not suddenly change your nutritional requirements. Just keep your receipts. Now, if you eat caviar, sushi and champagne every night the OR would take some exception. I on the otherhand would invite myself around to a few dinners [:)].
Take care

I like it DD, but not so much of the old! I could do with losing a couple of stones, so perhaps this is the way forward - I don't think Dave will be too happy though! Our diet isn't extravagant in general, just my dairy free bits! I haven't been keeping my receipts (but I will from now on), so I hope they don't want to look too closely. Believe me, you wouldn't want to come round and try my cooking - even I don't like eating it! Dave is having dinner with his mum tonight (I don't get invited) so it's a ready meal or McDonalds for me tonight!
Where have you been DD, the forum has been quiet without you!

I hope you feel better soon DD. Sadly (and I mean that) I don't have enough work to keep me occupied and I can't stand being bored, hence I am looking for a new job - unfortunately the McLaren F1 team don't seem to realise they need to employ me in any capacity, so I'm still here!

what the CAB told me was as a minimum guideline obviously everyones circumstances are individual, what they were showing me as a minimum that in BR i would be allowed at least 580per month for groceries rather than the ridiculous amount the IP had put forward for a family of 5, which was only 400 and that included school meals etc
