Yesterday went fairly ok until it went really BAD... It was drizzly weather all the 2hr way there and so lights, wipers and everything... On the way back was the same but dark... It was not until I was turning from A12 onto M25, when my battery light came on and this awful smell came through the system, but after a few moments the light went back out and seemed fine, but then the dashboard lights dimmed badly and the battery light came back on again, but kept on going as a long way to home... These lights were on and off a few times and was against really heavy traffic for some reason and took 4hrs to get home... But it was not without finding reduction of transmission, airbag light coming on and staying on, then all the other warning lights stayed on, so I turned off the heating system and opened the windows a little so not to steam up... then coming off M25 to M40 and away from all the heavy lit traffic, I realised that my headlights were very dim... Now **!!!"!** bucketloads with 2x vulnerables in the back I was face fixed to the windscreen, but just as coming off the Wycombe Bypass, the wipers slowed down to a strain and the rev counter stopped... How we got home, I really do not know, but just as reversed parked into space outside house slightly askew, offloaded mum and dad, got out, the car stalled and car died... no ignition! ... Seems that probably the alternator MESSED up, but HECK knows how we did the distance, as when it appeared to be going wrong at A12, I still had about 100 miles to go! I am now waiting good time to call my local garage to get the car seen to, but I expect it will be a shooooo Ummmmm Wellll... But have interview today... I'm gonna be real stressed out...

That was my day!

Good luck with your interview. Hope it goes well for you. Cars are handy but they do seem to eat all available cash!!! Hope you get it sorted soon.

Thanks Andy/Lou,

I did get a few shoooo mmmm ahhh ooooh, when I called the mechanic... but then a wow, heck, bloomin' nora (to be polite)... how the **** did you manage to get it home is beyond me... I suppose it is either a credit to Ford Mondeo or the battery that supported it 100 miles (reminds me of that Scots song! divided by 10 or 100... can't remember! ... 1,000 or 10,000?)

the first thing that went when my IVA was started was my car.. must admit rather than feeling the loss it instead felt like a big financial burden being lifted from me (each MOT cost a fortune!) and now i walk (very healthy!) or bus it!

good luck with your car Gordon!
