Hi i have been living in Australia for 5 years and still have a 8000 pounds debt over my head..... i have no assets in england and none over here in australia apart from some furniture, in view of the exchange rate and myself applying for residency here in australia, and being on a low wage im struggling to repay this debt. Can i come back to england to declare bankruptcy or have i got the wrong idea of how this works ? how long is the process ? i really appreciate your assistance with this matter ...

Welcome to the Forum DD,
It may be possible for you to declare bankruptcy in the UK, Do you have an address here in the UK that you could use for corrospondence etc? your parents address? If not it may not be possible.
Have your creditors been still in contact with you whilst being in Australia?
Best Regards,

Yes i have my parents address in which all correspondece passes too, i have been in Aus for 5 years and applying for permanent residency so thats my current position.... so all bank statments go there, 3000 pounds is on a credit card in which i keep transferring from card to card for int free periods, the other 5000 is on a egg loan in which i repay 150 pounds a mth so transfer money here and there , just with the exchange rate nothing really reduces !!! My income here is very low so a big struggle, so is a IVA a possible solution and is the process possible with myself in Australia, i really do appreciate your time and assistance with this
