Markss, I have a few calls from Mercers acting for Barclaycard, they are very persistant and can be rude but, I stay calm, offer to tell them my IP's details again and when they demand payment to stop doorstep collections, I just say, I am sorry I cannot offer you a payment at present, is there anything else, they normally leave the call with a threat but so far that's all they have been is a threat, I'm still waiting for my doorstep collector.

If they are making threatening phone calls, ask for their name and their direct number so you can make a complaint. They may just leave you alone for a while.

Are you in an IVA? Or waiting for one to be sent out? Mercers put my account on hold for upto 2 weeks at a time and then they would ring back and I would advise that again I am still waiting. If you are already in an IVA tell them that this is harrasment and you want your phone number deleted from their records on advice that you have been given by the Police - Worked for me!

I have been in an iva since november and mercers only started calling me last month to say i needed to pay up or i would be getting a visit from door step collections. I said look im not trying to be funny but im in an iva so im not paying i would be breaking the terms of my agreement if i did. Barclaycard actually didnt bother to vote so i wondered why they suddenly decided after 7 months of non payment they wanted some money. Mercers were very persistent and rude and even implied i was lying when i said i was in an iva. I told them that i lived at home with my parents and they were welcome to come round but they probably be breaking the law as its not my house and nothing in it, except clothes and bits belongs to me. They said im sorry but i did need to make payment blah blah blah, i then swiftly called dfd who i am with and thankfully i havent heard from them since. Also my mam discovered this helpful telephone gadget from virgin that stops people who with hold there number from calling you. we have had a bit peace since then !lol

the problem with Barclays is not that they can't be bothered but that there system as it stands can't cope with demand.

They have this ridiculous two week window in which there required to turn a persons debt over to Mercers there mirky sister collections company, odly owned by Barclays but operating under a different name... how convienient for them.

Consequently the debt moves from one firm to the other during the voting procedure, leaving your file in an awkward limbo.

I believe Mercer managers encourage call staff to be as unpleasent and determined as possible with customers, a sort of competitive sport in order to frighten money from them. What shallow lives they must lead :(

I'm sure if most Barclays customers were aware of this, they'd think twice about keeping an account with them.

Mercers and Barclaycard use the same Computer system, are in the same building and are all paid by Barclays.

When your debt goes to Mercers, it simply goes from one floor to another within the same building ![8D]
