ihave an iva in place but am still finding it very difficult, i am considering going bankrupt but would like to find out if it will affect my partner we live together in rented property he is down as the tennant i am down as an occupant would the courts have to inform letting agents or landlord and would it mean we could lose the property we rent and make it harder to rent elsa where.

The best thing to do would be to look at your tennancy agreement and see if there are any clauses regarding bankruptcy.
It may be worthwhile speaking to the landlord to see if it would cause him any problems.

If you were to declare yourself bankrupt, it is usual practice for the Trustee to notify your landlord, but as it sounds that your landlord is actually your partner, this should not pose any problem for you.

if your partners a tennant, and he pays the full amount of the rent (in priciple, for the sake of legal paperwork) then your financial status shouldn't be relavent as an occupant. However if you have joint signatures on the agreement, then you landlord has a right to know the status of both signed tennants.

In which case it will be up to your landlord to decide. The decision has little or nothing to do with the letting agancy.
