Hi guys, I'm looking for a prepaid "credit" card to put money on to on a monthly basis, which I can use primarily for Christmas presents, but also for saving towards holidays, etc. Ideally I would like it to be as cheap as possible.

Anyone any recommendations on the best ones available?

To be honest cr15py i am not a fan of these cards in anyway.

They charge your a monthly fee, charge for the transactions you make each month and charge you for opening an account !!!

Plus if you are intending to use it to save they dont pay any interest.

Peronally i would suggest you opened a basic account with the CO-OP or even the post office and saved a little every month in there.

I agree with Carl (and Vicki!). I only have one as I have a Visa Electron card and it isn't always accepted so having a Mastercard is handy as it means I don't have to ask other people to buy things for me. I have the Virgin card, which doesn't charge a monthly fee or a top up fee but does charge 2.95% per transaction.

As I only use mine for my petrol and online shopping (which I don't do very often) it doesn't cost me too much.

I have to disgaree ... My cashplus card is one of the best financial tools I have EVER had!! £4.95 a month for the convenience that it brings of being able to pay for expenses as a self-employed person (no transaction charges and no upload fee at the Post Office) ... ever tried booking into a hotel without a 'credit' card nowadays? If I want to pay for something it saves money from drawing the cash out because you always have to draw more than you need.

I know they must be earning masses of interest on the balances they hold ... but I really wouldn't be without it! [:)]
