Hi ,I offered 21p in the pound for a £27500 debt and mine was accepted! Your ip will only put forward a proposal that they think will be good enough to be accepted.Hope this helps

There are other NHS employees with IVAs who post on this forum.
Try to stay positive.

There are no restrictions on NHS employees entering into IVAs, so worry no more on that front at least. HSBC do have a higher dividend requirement than other creditors, but this may be in the process of being relaxed so let your IP carry on with the good work and fight as hard as they can for you on the day of the creditors meeting for a good result.

Good luck!

Got me worrying now - are civil servants affected by IVA's

I dont think civil servants are affected, in fact this one of the reasons why IVAS were "invented" to stop people loosing their job if they went banckrup.

Ie i think if your civil servant and went BR you could loose your job, but not if your in an IVA

Not usually - but best to check the terms and conditions of your employment if you are worried at all.

Thanks for that - am gathering all the info I can and in preparation for probably trying the IVA route although I am still struggling with guilt and embarrasment at the moment. I am still of sick at the moment having had an operation and then a crones flare up ( supposed to be keeping stress free). Have opened my new bank account but can't change my salary arrangements till I get back to work. Going back soon though and then I've got to change all the "millions" of direct debits. My husband doesn't deal with the finances and although supportive doesn't really understand. Have found this forum so helpful and supportive. My youngest is already talking about where everyone at school is going for their holidays and "where are we going" !!!!!!!

Hi Elizebeth. This is my first year in an IVA.For the last two years we've had holidays that we couldn't afford.I was in Majorca in August in the sea and having palpataions because I'd funded the hoiday totally on credit and I knew I shouldn't and I knew I had to face up to it.I deal with all the finances too so like you I find this support invaluable.Such a relief to speak with people who really understand and do not judge. My kids are asking about our holiday this year...we won't be able to go abroad. However, I didn't enjoy the last one because of the stress. We will be able to manage the odd weekend away I suppose. My eldest came home the other day and said he ha ben invited to go away with school for £650.He said he didn't even bother with the letter as he knew it would be a no.I felt guilty, but he's right.I have not got the money. And for the last couple of years I was living on borrowed time.I have a friend with an apartment in Turkey which we can have for free.Trouble is the flights/transfers are approx £1500.Then there's spending money and contingency money, so again it's a no.A caravan DOWN SOUTH NEARLY £1000 so that's a no too. This has turned into a right old rant hasn't it. But I meant it to be reasuring and to point out that this will soon be over and you are doing the right thing. We 've only been doing this since oct last year and already we're able to go away for a cheap travel lodge break this weekend and have just put in for one of the Sun hols-think this has been successful as the cheque has been cashed.Don't know where to yet, but this is the October half term sorted.
