Hi all,
At the moment i have a pay as you go mobile. Would I be able to get a monthly contract while in a IVA? I used to have one before, and never missed any payments.[?]

Morning Debbiw. I doubt it very much as they would do a credit check.I think you might get away with it if you were just renewing a contract but not starting from scratch.Cat

They should do a contract that is say capped at £20 per month that way they can monitor the account for 6 months.

If your husband is not part of your IVA there is no reason that he can't get a mobile phone contract in his name and let you use it. I might get Dave to do the same for me.

I'm finding that I'm using my mobile less and less as I go on, so I'm considering ending my contract - flaming 18 month contracts though mean I can't do this for another 5 months! [:(]

Cr15py, Just remember that if you end it, you may have difficulty taking another contract out further into your IVA. I wish I had kept mine now, as I can't start another one, because of the credit check.

Yeah, I realise that debbi - but I am paying £40/mth for a mobile that I probably would spend £20/mth on PAYG. I have a perfectly good phone as well that I could use. Plus, my girlfriend has a really good offer on hers if I ever did the phone for the minutes.

Hubby has a contract and I have pay as you go. He has me as a magic number and I stick a fiver on here and there. I just give hima missed call and he rings me back, depends if you need to phone a lot of others on it.

The best network to try are 3,T-Mobile and O2 using the Carphone warehouse (not O2 direct). You will either get a yes,no or pay a deposit which the network will keep for a few months till they know that you can pay your bills on time.

just reading about getting contracts i use 3 on pay as you go and as far as i am aware contracts by all the major networks cant beat 3 pay as you go you buy a sim for 20 top up in a three store or any normal place you top up phones then change your top up to a stretch they come in various limits but i pay 21 pound a month which gives you 700 units a unit is either 1 text or one minute of calls to any network or uk 01 02 number which i think is really good value and your not tied to any contract dont work for 3 but swear by them now just because of the price the only draw back is you cant ring 0845 numbers unless you have credit left but 25 pound a month is more than enough for me the 4 left from a 25 top up

I have a pay as u go on O2 .I text alot so you can choose lots of bolt ons. The one i have is text 400 . You credit your phone £12 per mth and they take that and give you 400 texts . It lasts me well until the next mth . I had contract phone with 3 before and wouldnt get one again !
