Just a quick note to say it is done!

Quick trip to the court, handed the money over, forms sorted, did not even have to see the judge (our debts must have been bad!!), spoke to the OR office and home again.

I have just created a blog, so will put a detailed posting about our experience and forthcoming events later on today... [:)]

Well Done You, it must have been really difficult, we are just about to go down the same route, need to phone the court tomorrow, did you have to pay a fee for each of you, as this seems a lot of money when you don't have any, if you know what I mean, how did the expenditure go, do they allow you enough to live on as when we thought we would have the IVA they didn't leave us anywhere near enough, we would have still gone with it, but £360 per month for 3 adults for food and stuff was going to be really hard. Did you have to pay anything towards your creditors???
Onec again well done and you can now start to live again, I am looking forward to this part more than anything.

You will be charged a fee for each petition, Kadge. We have just filed last Wednesday as handed over £970, for me and hubby, definately a lot of money when you are struggling to start with. We are waiting for the OR meeting so that's when we will find out how much we will be allowed to live on and if we can keep the car we have. Filing is only the first step in the process. Good luck with your phone call

We were 'lucky' in a way. Basically, our business debts are the reason we had to go bankrupt and as we were in a partnership, we were able to bankrupt the Partnership (which in turn bankrupts the partner) and there is only one cost of the partnership bankruptcy which is £525.

If we had not been in the partnership and just had debts to bankrupt individually, it would have been the full £970 for the two of us.

If you go to adam.blogs.iva.co.uk you can read about what happened, and I will keep it updated as we go a long our bankruptcy journey.
