Hi, just think I'm coming down from my euphoria. Just looked at the Insolvency register and yes my husband and I are there...knew we would be, but why when you see it there are you shocked? Had no hot water since before Christmas but the heating has been working and now the heating has gone...just feeling down I guess about things but eh ho, I'm on the right road to debt freedom so that's one thing and tomorrows another day when I'm sure I'll feel better.

I didn't know the register existed until I joined this forum so I guess not many people do?

I know I didnt like it being on the register either and they even put my former names in brackets, I didnt think that was necessary, (maiden name and previous marriage) but still.
Hope you get the heating sorted soon, its really cold here, wrap up. I'm sure you will feel better tomorrow.

Thanks Ang, I think it's just the fact that it is there in front of me! With an unusual surname too! I've decided that I'm not wearing my name badge at work so much now, only when I have to i.e when the principal is about and also having my surname removed from the work website. Maybe I'm thinking irrationally but for tonight humour me and I'll be better in the morning I'm sure. x

Like you, we didnt know the insolvency register existed till we joined this forum and by then hubby was over 2 and a half years into his IVA.
I shouldnt worry too much, i dont suppose anybody that knows you would even look.......not unless they are on there too and just generally being nosey

I know Mrs Skint, I always make a mountain out of a molehill, I just showed my husband and he said oh yeah, they've put my middle name on...oh great...I really wish I had his attitude.

I hated seeing my name there too.Yucky and there for all to see like a criminal.However, I didn't know it existed and I presume that people who look are only people who are in IVA or bankrupt.An aquaintence told me in passing today that she's been bankrupt...wish I had her confidence and ability to announce stuff as though usual conversation.I said nowt.Best way I thought !!!

Like I said to you earlier L, everyone has ups and downs and yes seeing your name in black and white does tend to bring it home a little but things will start to get brighter again.

isthereanend, just be proud of yourself for facing your debt problems and dealing with them. That takes a lot more guts than just plodding on.
mr skint and me were the same as you and your hubby. I stayed up all night crying and it was HIS IVA not mine. He went to bed and slept like a log then went mad at me the next day because i was tired.
Stay positive, it will all come right in the end.

ive just been on and my and hubby are on there... my address and date of birth, god anyone could go to the local register office and get copy birth cert. worried about this.

but only my married name is on there not my maiden name.... plus all the debt i have are in my maiden name so dont understand this.

We are on the register too. They have my date of birth wrong apparently i havent been born yet lol have told them about it but not changed it yet.

New day today and back to being positive! thanks all, I'm not going to look at the register again, it was just the initial shock. Wishing you all a lovely albeit cold day! x

I expect there is a pattern to all IVA emotion and coming down again is another one after such a high. I expect you have gone from pesamistic to optimistic now at realistic.

How long after your IVA is your name on the register?

Don't worry, I found it.
We are on it and it does bring it home a bit. Oh well, the chances are the only people who are looking on it are creditors and people like us, wanting to know if our names are listed yet........

Think of as a petition against debt !!!! I do but hey I am not probably wired up right
