What happens during the course of an IVA if you need to move house because of a change of job and therefore a change of area? How would the IVA affect the changes of getting a mortgage or would it be better to rent out the property for the duration of the IVA?

Hi anthea and welcome to the forum

Is the property included in the IVA - ie are you subject to a fourth or final year revaluation and equity release? If so, this provision can be transferred to the new property - but you will need your Supervisor's permission to sell and purchase a new property.

As an alternative you could go into rented accomodatio, but the cost of this should not exceed your current mortgage payments, and your rental income on your old property would have to be sufficient to cover all of the outgoings so as not to disturb the IVA. It may also be possible to vary the IVA, perhaps to sell the property and introduce the equity at an earlier stage, and then also going into rented.

You really need to discuss this directly with your own IP who has detailed knowledge of your case and can advise you specifically.
