My brother who lives abroad recieved a letter from a debt collection agency, demanding he pay over £1000 for an unsettled car debt he had about 9 years ago. He knew he had paid it but they said not and demanded payment.
I did a little bit of homework and rang him and told him to quote to them the Limitation act 1980. He did this and the guy on the other end of the phone nearly crawled up his own.
After a little discussion of the limitations act, the guy on the phone said oh im sorry sir this debt appears to be paid in full.
I was really pleased with myself and my older and very smug brother thought i was really clever [:D][:D][:D] hehe

I regularly and unwittingly impress people with my knowledge of the financial world ... all knowledge gained from my involvement with the Forum.
I have also become much more of an advocate of the 'little person' and find myself wanting to help people to stick up for their rights more. I can only begin to imagine the kind of value and job satisfaction that IPs such as Melanie must gain from their work in helping people to solutions of what must be one of the most worrying experiences of one's life.

... And then they put ideas of going on skiing trips which cost hundreds of pounds in their heads [:(]
Sorry if I sound cynical, but it makes me angry!
