Hello all,
Well our IVA is just into its 2nd month, the phonecalls and letters have stopped. Budgeting is hard and we are still learning the best ways to do our shopping etc, but we had our stall set out and things looked OK. We started well with a bit of money set aside for contingencies/emergencies etc. In the first week of our IVA the house alarm needed a repair which cost £70.00 and if that wasn't bad enough in the third week the car needed a repair which was another £200.00 so in our 1st month an extra expenditure of £270.00. Lets hope things improve on that side of things because our emergency fund has taken a real battering so far and if it does carry on like this the pot will be empty real soon !!!
Still, only 58 months to go

It's amazing how things that we would once wave our "magic cards" at, suddenly come and bite you on the bum. We also had a few unexpecteds in our first month, I think it just goes to prove how important it is to budget properly.
I would never have believed how often we would check our account balance, scrutinising every last penny.

Still I'm sure you're still feeling better than you did two months ago, chin up and fingers crossed for no more nasties [;)]

Well done. That is why the contingency is so necessary. Ours took real pasting in sept and at xmas but has slowly rebuilt again and is there ready for the next emergency. I have tried to cover some things like all the kitchen stuff now as the w machine and tumble dryer cost £400 to replace at least with the cover i now have the freezer, cooker and dishwasher covered, I mentioned before dom and general do a kitchen plan for 9.99 a month and covers three items. They can be I think up to five years old and it is new for old if they cannot repair.
Anyway well done again, keep going.
