I am fast approaching 6 months into my IVA and am having that
so called STRUGGLING MONTH!!!.
After 5 comfortable payments and a normal 5 months i have had my daughters 18th Birthday and my other daughters school trip which i paid up.
Next month i should be back to normal but this month i still paid my IVA payment even though i new i would struggle a bit this month.
Is this quite common in an IVA and if i accidently went £13 o/d in my Basic Current Account would this fail my IVA.
I HAVE RECTIFIED THIS AND PAID THE £13 BACK AS THIS WAS AN OVERSIGHT AND I WILL NOT BE CHARGED.
Anyway i have my fare expenses paid in next week which i am allowed to keep so life will be back to normal.
DOES EVERYONE HAVE MONTHS IN THERE IVA's LIKE THIS AND HAS ANYONE ELSE IN THERE IVA GONE OVERDRAWN BY MISTAKE.
WOULD THIS FAIL THE IVA OR AM I BEING PARANOID.

Hi Ya.I can't really help but I can be paranoid with you.I recently went £11.99 overdrawn because of a silly mistake.I bought a pair of shorts for a son that didn't want them (mingin' apparently)and I used the wrong card.Didn't realise it untill the COOP wrote and said on this occassion they would allow it and wouldn't charge me £15 for going over drawn.Sure enough my statement doesn't show over drawn (plus the shorts went back and £11.99 went back in)However, I really panicked when I realised I'd done this. And, I have been doing the IVA for 7 months now.Last month was dreadfully tight.Fortunately, I had some money put by and I reluctantly had to use some of it to manage. However, lots of things had gone wrong ie needed a new window, vets fees etc.Still better than having the nothing I used to have even at the beginning of the month? We have had a very tight month, due to car tax, mot, insurance and my husbands work expenses not being paid on time. Only been in an IVA 3 monts and have not had time to build up a contingincy fund, but as you have said we get through it with scrimping and saving.
look forward to next month and hopefully things will be back to normal.
Regarding being overdrawn, I am not sure as luckily that has not happened to us.

I think plenty of people have more than 1 struggling month.
As for going overdrawn I believe that some accounts have a 3 strikes sort of rule in that if you do it 3 times they will close the account. I very much doubt anyone would fail your IVA for an oversight on your part of £13. Hope the B'day went well and that the trip is as good as my school trip to holland many moons ago!!!

Hi Andrew, I'm not an expert, but I would not think this would fail your iva, especially as you have repaid the money.
I think everyone has months where they struggle. We are only 2 months in, and having had a load of birthdays this month, we have had to cut back on the food bills to pay money into the bank to cover our direct debits. Taxed the car as well so there was £170!
We have our daughters 21st next year and she wants a party so lord knows what we will do! Dread to think what she wants for a present!
If you are going to be back to normal next month, I wouldn't worry too much.

Cheers Guys for the Post's
I don't know if it is me but while i am in an IVA , i do get very paranoid as i always seem to think that the account is Monitored ,maybe i am wrong.
I think it is a bit strong that your account could be closed because you have accidently strayed into the red by a small amount.
I have paid my £345 IVA payment this month and even though it leaves me well short this month, next month will be better as i don't have those things to pay for.
Does anybody else have a really bad ,tight struggling month in there IVA's and has anybody gone O/D sometimes in ther IVA'basic accounts and still sucessfully completed there IVA's.

ladyh, we are now resorting to going round Asda with a list and writing down the prices as we go and adding them up so that we can make sure we have enough money. As long as we get the basics I'm not too bothered, we've built up a stock over the years.
Mind you, we're only two months in and already I have had to pay money from our food bill into the bank to cover the bills.
I've just requested the overpayment we have made to our gas account so that will give us a little contingency. They weren't happy about it as it's normally made as soon as your bill comes out if you want it.
I didn't need it then, but I do now. I've been told it is 'pending', so if it's not in the bank next week I shall be on the phone again. It's my money and I want it back!

It is hard when you have to stick to your money allocated for the week. I used to rely on cards to carry me through, but they have all gone now, so once my money is done for the week, that's it until next week.
What I wouldn't give for a takeaway at the moment!!!!!!!

Try a chicken phal.
Its like eating a distress flare.
