Not having been at the receiving end of a chat up line for many years I just had to share one experienced this week with you all as it has been making me giggle all week.
I was being all official and task orientated at the crematorium this week and being all straight faced as you do ... I went up to one of the (rather nice [;)]) hearse drivers to sort out some flowers and before I had chance to say ANYTHING he looked me straight in the eye and said;
"I dreamt about you last night"
"Did you?" I exclaimed, completely taken aback, and thrown off track
"Nahh ... you wouldn't let me" he replied.

I was just so completely taken aback! ... I had the Malaysian and Borneo Veterans Associaton to line up with their banners and the bugler to find for "The Last Post" ... then, after the service, I was invited to the Royal Hampshire Regiment's dinner and the offer of three old chaps ... one said he had the money, the other said he had the car ... and the other said he didn't have the wife! So it was a good day, and good to know that even thouh well and truly on the shelf ... I hopefully still have something! [:D] [:D]

I think it was one of her made up sayings to keep me strong when I announced 37 years ago I was going to get married to a man 25 years older than me and everyone was telling not to, we celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary in September. My nan who had married the 'right' man who had money, property and a business turned out to be a right whatsit then married the 'wrong' man a farm labourer and had many years of happy marriage.
So perhaps she knew what she was talking about.

I'm glad it worked out for you Jan. My hubbie is only 7 years older than me - sometimes it does seem like a lifetime! We celebrated 21 years of bliss (????!!!!!!) this year.
My stepdaughter married a man 10 years older than her, and it ended up in a very acrimonious divorce.
It's obviously down to the person at the end of the day, doesn't matter how old they are.

You must have some wonderful memories to look back on Jan.
So sorry that he has Alzheimers. It must be tough on you looking after him but it sounds as though you have a great family behind you.

Dave is 20 years older than me. When we started seeing each other I was only 22 and everyone said it wouldn't last. At the beginning it seemed that they were right as we split up quite a few times and it didn't seem like it could ever work. I'd got to the stage where I couldn't take the rows and the uncertainty any more and I was going to tell him that it was over when he rang me to say that his dad had died. Obviously I couldn't say anything then, then it was Christmas and I realised that we were getting on so much better and we've now been together nearly 11 years. Hopefully one day we'll get married, but who knows?

Oh what lovely stories, I was married to a man and had 3 children 25, 23 and 20 now, I have been married to hubby now for 15 yrs this month, I often introduce him as my future ex-husband! But I don't mean it, we've got one daughter who is 15 this year and I also have two granddaughters. My hubby is two years younger than me...my toyboy!

Skippy, as long as it is working for you without that piece of paper, I would carry on as I was.

You're right Jan, he'd probably run a mile if I tried to tie him down! When I asked him to marry me on 29th Feb this year he said ask again in 4 years. I'll do that, and if it's another no I'll give up!
We have got a cat now, so that's commitment!
