Good Morning peeps and peepettes. Its 6.15 am and the sun is struggling through the rain clouds. My moggies asleep and alls well with the world. Hope You are all bright and bubbly today?
It was hay time down in Cornwall and the top-heavy cart coming from the field had overturned in the lane. Its young driver looked at the fallen load in dismay.
"Cum in fer a dish o' tay", said a motherly soul to the boy as he stood there."We'll give 'e a 'and gettin' it right after. You'll feel more like loadin' again after a drink and a sit down."
"Aah best not, Faather won't like un," said the boy doubtfully.
"Faather won't knaw nowt 'bout un," said the woman comfortingly and led the boy, still reluctant, into the house to join her family.
Half an hour later, all emerged to view the situation, the lad thanking the lady but repeating that his father wouldn't like it at all.
"Rubbish," she said, "I'll deal with your faather. Where's 'e to?"
"Under the 'ay", said the boy.

I'd like to say I was bright eyed Ray, but after finishing at 10 last night and up again at 6, that's the last thing I feel!

Just had a lovely cup of tea, feeling well, I think. The sun is very bright, I hope it stays that way, loads of catching up to do.

I remember those days Ang .... school holidays used to go on for ever. Brilliant sunshine all day and real snow in winter. We used to get kicked out of the house around 8.00 am and didn't get back home till about 6.00pm. We had loads of places to go .. Craw wood ... Deneside Park... Dawdon Dene ... the Blast ... Kingley Hill. On the days I felt really adventurous I would take the dog (I had a Corgi when I was a school boy) down the Blast and walk along the beach to Hawthorn Towers. The woods there were covered in wild Allium and to this day the smell of Onion and Garlic bring back those days. Going down onto the Blast with a dog was an adventure in itself as part of the path down the cliff side was a plank of wood only 9 inches wide. Dog wasn't to keen on it LOL.
But no matter where we went or what we did we were safe, and we all carried knives during the holidays yet no one got stabbed (unless they stabbed themselves). Halcyon days .... halcyon days.

smell of garlic plants are at my mams caravan in Stanhope. always get a deja vu kind of feeling when I walk past.. isn't the human brain a funny thing, when things as simple as a smell can trigger such memories!!

well guys i have had a black cloud lingering all morning, daughters a s results out today and as she put little effort in not expecting good news,(she still expected me to fund her meal and an afternoon of socializig though.) i think for the first time i have said no and meant it, not pay day till tomorrow. anyhow she has just rung and although not done fantastic she has done enough to return to college in september, what a relief. Lets hope this is a lesson learned and she will do what she is capable of. fingers crossed.(thinking maybe should give a little something for a few drinks now)!!!![:p]

Ah Lady, I wouldn't worry, she'll find her way. I didn't make much of an effort in school, I regret it now, but it in NO WAY had anything to do with my parents. You're a fab Mum.[:)] X

i can identify with feeling a failure as a mum...all my kids went through tough times in their teens and one into his early 20s..including police arrests...sacked for stealing and drunk driving and loss of licence....but hey...they are all grown up now and most of the time look and act like responsible people....so it must come right in the end.!!!
