My 9 month old has woken up from her nap with what looks like the classic 'dew drop on a rose petal' spots of chicken pox. On top of cutting her top front teeth at the moment...poor lamb is sooo miserable.

So it looks like my bank holiday will be spent applying calomine lotion to her and her big sister who will no doubt come down with it too!

great innit..i am childminder and have just ahd all of the kids i care for go down with it...but not all at one time...one after the other ....so have been pretty much housebound for weeks.!!

hope she is okay and doesnt have too much discomfort

Give her anti-histamine(think that's how it's spelt!)
When my little girl had it she was in pure agony, she was only 1 and was covered.....the only place she didn't have them were in her eyes.....I took her to both the Dr's an A&E and was told that there was nothing to give her.....then I phoned the pharmacist. He was shocked that the Dr/A&E hadn't prescribed something and advised Piriton. Withi 30mins of having some she had settled down and had her first good sleep in 4 days....

I never had chicken pox when I was a kid, despite literally everyone else in my class getting it. There is a vaccination now, so I had a blood test a few years ago to test whether I needed it and apparently I'm immune to chicken pox.

Cor, that brings back bad memories.
I was 29, i vividly remember watching coventry winning the fa cup in 1987, lying in bed,covered in spots, i had so much calomine lotion on my body i looked like a geisha girl.
Never been so ill in my life.
8 weeks i was off work.

Ah angelrainbow, poor little thing. I had chicken pox when I was little and then on my 18th birthday, it's truly horrible! Hope she recovers soon. X

Melanie, hubby had mumps when he was little and it left him permanently deaf in one ear![:(]

That's awful - I knew mumps was bad for certain areas of the body - but I didn't realise it affected the ears. What a nasty disease.

my little girl haschicken pox last year was everywhere even in her bits, i bathed her in salty water did help a little

I had the lot when I was a kid - measles, mumps, german measles, chickenpox.

The chickenpox I got over Christmas (what a time to get it!!!), it was a white Christmas and I couldn't go out and play! I was covered in spots, including my head and my eyelids. I was the original calamine queen!

My little boy got over them not so long ago. He loved them!!!!!

Told him i would bath him so they would come out and he cried because he didnt want them to come off.

Was great, everytime he was naughty i told him i was going to take his spots off him. He sat like a little angel [:D][:D][:D]

Poor little one. I caught Scarlatina followed by chickenpox from my daughters when I was in my early 30'S never felt so ill in my life or ill for so long. The girls of course were poorly for a few days[:)]

My mum was probably responsible for a mumps epidemic at my school - I had it when I was 7 and she wrapped me up in a scarf and sent me to school!

I had scarletina when I was a kid as well. I can remember the weather being really hot but I wasn't allowed out in it. Surprisingly mum did keep me off school!

My mum sent me to school with what turned out to be hepatitis [:0] ended up with a full term off school.

I was wrong..not chicken pox after all but hand foot and mouth disease...which the OH now has. Oh dear!
