Hello everyone,
Just found out that refund from edf energy is classed as a windfall. I was going to us it as Christmas money but now its going into the IVA. What a bummer!

Oh not good if you had it earmarked for something, I wasn't sure of the rules of this but know now. x

liverpig, just reduce your DD to use it up so it is not money received.

That is an option Pandy but either way you'd have to declare next year your utilities were less to your IP as part of your review therefore having more disposable income.
I wrongly assumed any money saved from utilities you could keep but we live and learn. x

Hi
If this was just indicated on a statement you can ask them not to refund you and just continue to build up this bank. Would be a nice something after your IVA completes or if you had an heating emergency (boiler, etc) you can draw it down and cover the costs.

i thought all positive balances above £150 were refunded after the financial year.and payments were adjusted for any other amounts.

I think it depends on which company you use.

We had some credit added to both our gas and electricity metres last month - not really a windfall though. Only £10 on each. Ah well every bit helps. (this was from British Gas). x

I am with British Gas, I spoke to customer services and 'posed' the question to them. I was told to just keep the credit going for the remaining term of the IVA and then when I have my completion to claim it then. She must have been asked this before as she was fully aware of how an IVA works.

I do hope so, 50 months left and I normally have about £10-30 credit each month depending on the brrrrrrrrr factor. We use next to no lekkie, we have no kids using it for laptops and consoles all hours of the night
