I am now into month 4 of my IVA and all is going smoothly at the moment, however i have just received a letter from Revenue and Customs to say that in 2008 i didn't pay the correct amount of tax and that i owe £808
I have just spoken to the lovely people at Revenue and Customs and the guy i spoke with said don't worry we will just collect the payment on next years tax code. I explined that i am in an IVA and that to lose approx £75 per month to the tax man is a huge amount when your on a strict expenditure budget. I can't believe it takes them nearly 3 years to find out that i paid too little tax.
I already have an overpayment of tax credits included in my IVA, could the remaining £808 be added to this or do i have to grin and bear the extra monthly cost??
Any comments will be greatly received.

Hi Timmylad, I'm not sure but it's worth speaking with your IP about this as either way it will possibly impact on your payment.

Give him/her a ring and let us know how you'll get on.

I'm sure someone will move this very shortly. x

HMRC are a creditor the same as any other. If you are already in an IVA it will depend on whether this is a pre or post IVA debt but if your IVA is not drafted yet it is easy to add it in.
Hiya - there is a question on the debt forum regarding tax - have tried to copy here - not sure if it will work. Looks like you can if pre IVA so I would contact your IP asap to see if this can be arranged.

Good luck
