There was I, yesterday, crowing on the forum that my little Skoda was in fine fettle and should last the IVA out.

What happens this morning? An elderley lady runs smack into the side at a Give Way junction, where she didn't bother to stop!

My insurers have already arranged for my car to be collected for assessment and a hire car to be delivered. But I am worried it will be a write off. At 10 years old with 132k on the clock it won't take much to be an uneconomical repair !!!

Thank you Lesley. Strange thing is, a few years back I realised that all of my past motoring mishaps (over a 30 year period ... not that there were many) had been in red cars. So, for quite a while now I have refused to own a red car.

The car that ran into me was .....RED !!!!

Hope you are Ok Foggy and that you get a decent amount back to be able to buy another car if it can't be repaired. When the assessor rings you make sure you tell them that although it was old it was well cared for and looked after and you need to be able to buy a car that will do exactly the same with any monies paid out hopefully you'll get someone sympathetic who'll award the maximum payout if this has to happen.
