I might be on and off for a while[:(]
My main computer has gone pop .. refuses to boot ... just goes into windows repair mode again and again ... and again .......
So, tomorrow I will dig out my windows disc and see if I can re-install -- if not, I am stuck with this little lappie for the foreseeable and will have to figure out how to get files etc from the PC. I am afraid I don't trust PC repair shops after hearing about them accessing peoples accounts etc.
I hate computers ... and I hate lap tops more !!!!!

Know how you feel Foggy, mine is 10 years old & sooooooo slow to do anything! I've had it cleaned up & looked at by a friend fab with computers but it still a pain to use. I mainly do everything off my iPhone now, I would love to treat myaelf to a iPad, maybe when this IVA is over.
We've been given a new tower with windows 7 on but I need to figure out how to transfer my husbands work & all our photos from the old one to the new.
Any suggestions most welcome!

I have a iPad but it could never replace my laptop. I use it but much prefer my laptop.
Lyns why not just put all on a memory stick/disc and transfer over that way? Put your photos on online storage and that way accessible anywhwere and won't ever be lost.

Well -- after much messing about it seems my operating system was corrupted (I somehow generated an error log). Anyway -- I dug an old (OLD) pc from the garage, took the hard drive from the broken one and used that as an external hard drive to recover all the pictures and other files I wanted.
I was wondering why this computer had been dumped in the garage --- now I remember !!!! So slow it runs backwards and freezes every couple of minutes. Still, it will have to do for a while.

Thank you for that very kind offer Lesley. As you saw on t'other thread, dad came to the rescue (apparently it's what dad's do .... his excuse was that mum told him to in a dream). He's a silly auld sod, but I love him !

Glad you're sorted I'd hate to be without mine. I must source a charger for that laptop as I don't think it's a bad one, even if I just wipe it and let grandchildren have a go. x

So glad I have a Brother who works in IT for a large firm and he gives em away (He made friends in his new local pub within a week by basically giving everyone a laptop, OK 3-4 years old but good ones and now he doesn't pay for a drink ever lol). So I get a replacement every year for nowt, that said I hardly used it recently.
