As the Olympics near the end, I have to say what a fantastic experience and display of sporting talent it has been!

Team GB have shown courage, determination and true grit to make us proud!

I don't expect everyone to agree, but for those who positively support Team GB - It's been great so far, more to come and the paralympics need our support!

Hi Julie - I didn't think I would watch but I have been hooked (only on some sports though).

Our West Country boy did very well tonight and I am really suprised at how many medal we hae won.

Be nice to see some proper news though when it's all over!

Completely agree...true passion and great skills on show ..well done Team GB!
Looking for to the para's ...we have tickets for track final events at the stadium!

I wasn't fussed either way about it if I'm honest at the start, but by the end I was hooked nightly. x

I wasn't bothered at the start but I've really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to Rio!

We definitely need to improve in track and field for Rio though - out of all the gold medals only 4 were from athletics.

The highlight for me has been the cycling - fantastic as always.

I have enjoyed the bits I have watched, (some of the swimming and diving, the long distance stuff, some of the show jumping)Have been a bit selective over what I watched though as I didn't want to overdose on it.
Will watch the closing ceremony tonight, and some of the Paralympics,

Will be glad when the tv gets back to normal though.

For myself, I can only say that the past two weeks have been absolutely amazing. I am a sports nut, and would watch any sport in front of all the rubbish they have on TV these days.

Team GB have been fabulous, after a relatively slow start, and for all those that doubted both them, and also our own ability to put on a good show, scratch that, a phenomenal show, you should hang your heads in shame. I wasn't alive for the last London Olympics, and I certainly won't be here for the next one, so even though it is a cliche, this was a once in a lifetime experience. I defy anyone to say that this was not a resounding triumph for the country as a whole.

Hopefully Rio will be just as successful for us, but the abiding memory of these games will be of people smiling and rejoicing in the success of not only Team GB but GB as a whole.

I've thoroughly enjoyed it and have been very proud of our country over the last couple of weeks, I also have encouraged my kids to watch as I should imagine if ever the Olympics came back to the UK it would be when they are in old age if at all so it has been an experience not to be missed really.

I have been upset to see some people deliberately avoid watching any of it because of their narrowminded views though, I find that personally offensive and think people of our country should be more patriotic when it comes to a once in a lifetime event like this whether they like sport or not.

Not really enjoying the closing ceremony though, it seems a bit of a imitation pop concert but a bit hashed together with no real vibe to it, the opening ceremony was amazing but this is just a bit well, I don't know, but I think we could have done better.

Couldn't agree more.

I must admit, whilst truely looking forward to the Olympics, I too am a sports nut (the only reason I have sky is for all the sports and will watch most sports) I did doubt our ability to put on a good show.... however I have eaten the humble pie and am currently watching the closing ceremony. I think Team GB have been brilliant. There has not been many nights when I haven't shed a tear seeing all the hard work rewarded.

Lem, I agree about the closing ceremony... not a patch on the opening ceremony in my opinion. Still will watch to the end. Doesn't seem to have much to do with sport... but I suppose that's the idea to give the athletes a bit of a party. Maybe I am just getting old.

I truly wish that the example of the thousands of fans and athletes, from 204 countries around the world, all competing in good spirit and all getting along wonderfully, could be copied by the rest of the world.

Couldn't agree more with that statement.

Loved the last hour or so of the closing ceremony, Queen tribute, Eric Idle, Fatboy Slim, The Who, The amazing way they put the flame out, Take That, The Spice Girls, Boris Dancing, Seb Coe, Thought Russell Brand was a strange choice to do the 60's bit although he didn't do too bad a job.

Apart from Ray Davis, Madness, and The Pet Shop Boys, wasn't that impressed with the first bit, too dreary not really a party celebration.
