I'm in the middle of sorting out an IVA, first big step -great. I am very stressed with process and I think it's because I've stopped paying creditors Also getting harassing letters and calls all the time , haven't changed bank account yet as co-op say it takes 10 days do I'm worried not all my DDs can be changed in time for next month. I still haven't confirmed a figure with the IVA company and feel really quite overwhelmed . I wonder if I can indeed manage the next 5 or so years if I am struggling with this part!

I'm sure you will be able to manage, this first step sorting everything out and arranging a new account etc., is the worst after the set up of the account and the IVA, you'll have one monthly payment to sort and your utilities etc.,

Life for me in an IVA is far less stressful than pre-IVA as I did pay everyone up until the day we decided on an IVA then I stopped paying but we often went without food etc., Now I have a food allowance a clothing allowance and to me it was luxury x

Harrimav, after facing up to the debt problem and starting to sort it out, this is the most difficult part. There is a lot to contend with, but, work with your IP and it won't last too long.

Try not to get overwhelmed and don't hesitate to pick up the phone to speak to your team if you have any worries ... remember, for you, this is a first time experience, but your team has seen it all before and can best advise.

Other than that keep posting on here and ask any question you need.

Thanks. Don't know what's wrong! I took my daughter to cinema today and had to walk out half way through as felt like I could t breath. I think it's stress. I will be happier when I know an amount and the phones stopped ringing!

Lesley - as far as I am aware you can only access an email address if you are admin, otherwise it is via frugal friends.

I do stand to be corrected though.

Stick with it. The iva does get easier. I still have up and down days. But then look where we've come from and its been worth it. Hang on in there. Your doing a great job dealing with your problems. Good luck x
