Lately apart from my roof blowing off and various other things, it's just one things after another...Our IVA finished a year or so ago.

I should be leaping and jumping...I know

But I'm not.

Despite us living in private rented for 10 years now, the area being terrible etc (drugs etc) we have always enjoyed our home neverthless. But the house is so old and never gets anything done to it all of a sudden we are having to report all sorts, because it is almost falling down literally and it's making me feel a bit fed up.

Those around us do not know we rent this place, we have made good neighbours and friends who we often help and don't want to move.

Oscar is just hanging on by a thread, hope don't have to do the right thing that's for sure.

I feel like I need to do something of use really just need to find out what that is, best when I am helping others but with what??

Sorry just having a moment I think, especially after being locked in my home for hours with the dogs due to faulty locks ...

My dad's illness, together with his ignorance doesn't help. He knows nothing about our IVA, and only seems to want to contact us when he needs something, a new tv, new mobile phone, a bbq, money to spend on his girlfriend (my mam died 6 years ago this November).

Don't get me wrong, now out of our IVA it is great to be able to help my dad, but he doesn't give a t... about me, far too selfish and it upsets me a lot.

Sorry to bore you to death, hope it's a good one for you and I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow.

Sorry to hear you're low at the moment Oscar. You really should think of yourself - I know he's your Dad but you said it - he doesn't care so really why should you?

Our IVA ended in March - we still have no spare cash and my niece lives with us now so life is hard for us. I am dreading winter as my health isn't too good.

But - the work I do for people in crisis is really rewarding. I started voluntary but have been given 8 hours paid now. I love it and it's nice to meet people and try to help them.

Are you still doing any voluntary work?

Sorry to hear you're not feeling so upbeat Oscar. Does your landlord not have an obligation to make the house liveable to a certain level?

Hope things improve very soon and that you feel more positive. x

Kazza I hope your health improves and you feel better soon.I'm not doing any voluntary work currently but going to do some Dogs Trust fundraising soon I think.

I'm feeling my positive self almost again today, just needed to sound off I think.

Lesley yes there is an obligation just think after years of them sending out 'Roger the Bodger' and doing everything on the cheap we are now going to have to bite the bullet and get tough with them or move which is more possible now out of the IVA (hard having three labradors though!!!)

Thanks guys, this forum's a great place.

Hope they remedy the repairs as soon as possible Oscar to enable you to keep living there especially with your 3 labs. x
