OK -- so I am enjoying my shower and having a muse about things in general and got onto dating sites. This is going on FB too, for maximum assistance with this dilemma ......
Most sites (unless you want to pay an arm and a leg, neither of which I have spare) allow you one free short message to impress. Bearing the following in mind, what would get your attention?
I am 55 with a 6 year old son living with me. Now ... most ladies after a 55 year old bloke don't want to inherit a 6 year old son. Conversely, most 40 year old ladies, who wouldn't mind a 6 year old son, don't want to be saddled with a 55 year old bloke !!
Of course, there are younger ladies out there who don't mind us grizzlies, but there is no way of telling and I am not going to embarrass them (or myself) by asking --- and, it seems, this is still a world where the bloke does the asking.

Aside from our conversation via FB,[:)] don't assume what others are looking for - be your honest lovely self and see what happens.

Why are you looking for a 40 year old why not someone nearer your own age.
If they like the sound of you your 6 yr old wont be a problem for a woman of any age range.

PJ -- I am not looking for a 40 year old -- just using that age as an example of the bracket more used to a 6 year old in the household.
In reality -- I am not looking at "an age" but "a person".

Actually, PJ, I am not looking --- just a "shower muse moment"

Julie's right Foggy, age is just a number - hubby is 20 years older than me and we're very happy.
Regarding Foggy junior, if someone likes you enough then she will also like him.

I think it will be the other way round, Skippy, they will ALL love Foogy Junior --- it's me they will have to adjust to

One day you'll just meet someone who you connect with and they'll love you and little Foggy. Two of my friends met online and are very happy way down the line.
Long as they know little Foggy is the main man! Ignore the age thing, it'll happen when the time is right and have fun finding someone!

I am probably the worst person to give out dating advice when I think of those I have dated, but I think if you are just yourself that is what is important, age doesn't really come into it.
Have fun, make friends and see what happens.

Age is not important ! There's a 9 year gap between me and my hubby and wouldn't have it any other way. We've been happily together for 17 years now

If you don't look or ask you don't get in life

. Good luck

All I would say Foggy (and btw, you look nowhere near 55!) is there is nothing sexier than a man doting on his young son, so enjoy your boy and the right woman for you both will come along with very little effort, have fun with Foggy junior and everyone will want to be your friend

Ah, Lem ... you should see me first thing in the morning ( or maybe not

).
To be honest I am only looking at these sights when bored. My priority is little Foggy and I enjoy looking after him -- his cuddles are worth everything.
