Haven't seen it I must admit and I further admit to being useless in the kitchen and just recently my hubby took a new job and he didn't come home until gone 8 tonight so I felt compelled to cook something. Well more heat it through from the freezer to the oven!

I like to try and spend sunday cooking for the week. I tend to do a soup or vege stew for work and something to last me sun and mon...bulk buying vege from aldi and prepare it all together means less waste...and i eat healthy..and am less tempted to eat evil bread.
I sometimes freeze portions at the weekend and then get them out in the morning before work.
This is all about the journey ive gone on..before I wouldnt have planned or enjoyed staying into do this. The maturity these last 5 years has given me is something I treasure.

I honestly wish I enjoyed cooking but sadly I don't. Lots of my friends are excellent cooks and can make something out of nothing, my hubby isn't too bad x

I was shocked when I watched it to see how much that couple threw away. Shopping for one, I have learnt not to be tempted to over shop, and to divide and freeze a lot of stuff, plus being in debt certainly focuses the mind on being more creative! I am sure for a lot of people though the programme will be a revelation on how to reduce waste and the money they spend on food each month.

Thanks CM, i meant to watch Jamie last night but got caught up in the back to school mania with the kids.

I will watch it on Playback tonight :-)

If you are looking for bargains, I recently made an order from http://www.approvedfood.co.uk/ and i suprised at the amount of food i had for £22 - with 4 children i am always looking for ways to reduce my food bill!

i watched and like everyone was shocked at the amount that couple threw away, although if I was Jamie I would have been helping them with the bigger things not just how to make herbs go father.
Seems like a good series and he has a book out to go with it, the fish pie looked lovely till he added the the Baked beans to the plate, really is that common to have fish pie with baked beans, never even thought of that in our house let alone tried it.

Fish pie with baked beans?! Yuck! I love fish pie but that sounds horrible!

I haven't watched this (and probably won't) as Jamie Oliver puts my blood pressure up with his holier than thou attitude - I want to slap him!

I'm absolutely useless in the kitchen and very rarely attempt to cook. Hubby is a great chef and uses reduced products regularly.

He uses our local butchers and farm shop for great deals and the food is quality too!

I'm getting better at cooking but don't think I'll ever enjoy it. I cook a mean Sunday lunch but that is where my repertoire ends. Luckily daughter is home this weekend so she cooked last night and will do tomorrow. Had a KFC today!
