Just thought I'd let you guys know it is worth haggling/threatening to leave, to save a bit of money

Sky have given me 25% off since June/July until December 2014

Directline reduced my car insurance from ~£350 to ~£290 (I could have saved an extra £10 by switching though)

Both companies were happy to deal with me despite my IVA

Might be worth others sharing similar ?

I always have a bit of a haggle and my husband is well known for it in local shops...I just stand and cringe!

Seriously though well done you for making them savings.

Well done !Martin. I'll haggle over the phone, but I've never tried it in shops. I'd cringe like you Lesley.

I remember going to comet with a mate once. He was after a new telly. I was so embarassed when he started asking what he would get thrown in. Ended up with a 400 telly for 350, surround sound speaker's, 3 year warranty for 1/4 of the price and an angle poised lamp!!!

He says he does it all the time.

Never went shopping with him again! !!

I despair with my hubby but he mostly gets something. Pre-IVA we bought a new car (the one we've still got now, some 13 years on!) he nearly had the salesman's coat off his back and I mean literally!

My other half haggles in Laura Ashley. We bought a bedspread but only after hubby asked what their best was on the price. The assistant laughed and said she would have to ring head office. hubby said best do that then. Head office said to give us 20% off +to reduce it to sale price before discount so a bedspread which was £175 became £78.
