No, not Christmas shopping that's all but done, clearing up my credit files. This morning I checked and I have 3 companies issuing defaults on my credit files on a monthly basis so I have written to them today with a copy of certificate of due completion. I've only checked Noddle at this stage, however, I have no insolvencies or bankruptcies against me...should this be, bearing in mind it's not 6 years yet until February 8th 2014.

Checked hubby's on his behalf and he's none defaulting and no Insolvency or bankruptcy showing, his score is higher than but only marginally and is still poor. Any advice?

Hi Lesley.

Are your accounts marked up as settled/satisfied? If not, I would send out some more letters asking creditors to up date status to settled/satisfied.

I would check the default dates & make sure they are on or around the date your iva started & I think you'll find that until the defaulting accounts have correct info placed on them,,the credit score will be really low. However I'm no expert!! I'm just basing that on what I've found with sorting ours out so far!!

Thank you for your reply. I'm no expert and all the others appear to be up to date...it's only the 3 that are defaulting me every month. I've posted the letters now so let's see if it makes a difference and if not I'll be back for more advice.

Lesley - I would check the other credit agencies as well as they all seem to hold different information and some creditors report to one or more, or none ! When you think you are almost clear ...another one can appear as I have found this month !
We now have two defaults left to clear - Natwest in February - I have given up now chasing for them to clear this one ....and one store card that default in the June .... I am writing to them today again, however since our IVA finished I have started to use them for a few purchases however have a nil balance, but don't want them to shut the account - want them to shut the old account, but thinking of a way to not draw their attention to the fact I have two accounts with them ....

To be honest - part of me thinks let it ride until they both clear automatically - we don't want credit of any sort and have no intention of swapping cars, opening new accounts so let sleeping dogs lie me thinks ....

Good luck !

I will want/need a new car eventually and so would like things cleaning up. I thought I'd do the other two after February when the IVA should drop off or is it advisable to apply beforehand for access to them.

Leave it till March ...that way everything should have dropped off during February ... It is quite nice watching things disappear ... Satisfying in fact

I would check all 3 now so you know what you are dealing with.

I've been dealing direct with experian to get things sorted but now I've got a couple of letters to send out.

1 creditor is being difficult about marking an account as settled/satisfied so really I need to sort that out as I don't want any phone calls in the future demanding money from us.

& I've a default dated 26/06/08- & the creditor won't authorise experian to change it to 30/04/08 even tho experian sent them the cc's etc to have the account marked as satisfied.
Although that's niggling me!! I'm thinking I'll just leave for ease of hassle.

Pretty much everything looks like it should with all 3 agencies. But I'll be checking again like a dog with a bone next spring to make sure everything has disappeared into the ethos!!!
