Hi, sorry for deserting the forum. Last week I was poorly with a bug thought I was dying...what a drama queen.
On Thursday my brother rang, Mum's had a stroke, I packed everything up and went straight to her bedside(3 hours away). By the time I got there, she was so poorly she was in intensive care...the next day she went to acute stroke care and was mumbling away but didn't open her eyes...I could understand her, she was squeezing my hand. I had hope. By Saturday however we were told to prepare for the worse. Monday at 5.33am she slipped away with her family surrounding her bedside.
This has knocked me for six but let me tell you this, when all is down including money problems nothing is more important than family (well to me anyway)so love those around you and cherish what you have, you're here as you're sorting your finances and well done for that but give your loved ones a slightly tighter hug tonight for me x

Lost my Dad a year ago next month and its puts lots of things in a different light.
Really sorry to hear about your mum, it will be little comfort but I'm glad she didnt suffer in a prolonged way.
here but by the grace of god, and I'm not a religious person in any way.
we are only on this place for a relatively short period of time, dont dwell on the past and have no regrets about what you could or should have done, just get off and do it!!

Lesley ..you know my thoughts as we have "spoken" over the last week daily, and you know what a loving family you have around you who will all come together to give your mum the biggest send off possible.
It was quick at the end and you would have wanted longer for her, but she didn't suffer and she is now re-united with your brother who will look after her.
The pictures you have shared show her as a happy lady and you need to cling onto those precious memories ...they are here to stay which no one can take away.
She would be so proud of you and your family .... Love you loads my friend xxxx

Lesley I was so sad to read your news, but at least she didn't suffer and the fact she was squeezing your hand meant she knew you were there and that you gave her comfort, Looking at all you pictures on fb I know your family will do her proud and give her an amazing send off. I gave my family a tighter hug once I read your news, it goes to show we never know what is around the corner.
Remember, getting upset over someones passing is just a sign of how much we cared. So cry those tears and keep crying while you need to. Eventually the grief will ease it will never go but it will get bearable and remember all the good times and laughs you shared.

I feel a little better today now that the funeral is sorted and we have a date, it was all a bit in limbo before.
Back to work on Monday so will be kept busy.

I really feel for you Lesley - I think the limbo period before the funeral is the toughest thing to go through -
For me, when my dad died I couldn't quite believe he was gone, even tho I was with him (on my own ) when he finally gave up his fight & believe me! It was a fight, my dad went down guns blazing-
Problems melt away when you are in & facing those situations, you are soo right to say cherish who we have because it's the people around us who matter & not our possessions.
Take courage & I sincerely hope you are able to draw comfort from your family & friends around you to help you cope with your mums death xx

Sorry to hear your news.
lost my brother just over a year ago, going though my IVA was hard at times, but I would do it again just to have my brother phone up and ask me to repair his car for free.

Thank you, I've written the Eulogy today for my youngest daughter to read, she's very confident and will be able to hold it together whilst reading it, I did send the first draft to my brother to look over and he simply said 'love it' so apart from a few tweaks we'll go with it.
Also found a beautiful poem for my granddaughter to read, she's almost 10 and will be the only grandchild in attendance.

Well done ... It is hard but i know from experience that writing the eulogy yourself is kind of satisfying and helps manage your own grief .... i know H and B will do you proud xxx

I did ask if daughter would like to read a poem but she insisted she wanted to read something personal.
Lovely bouquet from my boss yesterday upon my return to work, makes me feel a little guilty that I do not like my job!
