Emma -- you are certainly far from alone! even the banks themselves got themselves into a very similar position not too long ago --- the only difference is that we (WE!) bailed them out !

I remember my first phone call to ask for help, I KNEW nobody else had as much debt as me, how wrong was I, there were plenty of people in a same/similar position...the forum has given me lots of new friends, some I've even met now. you're far from alone do keep posting and remain positive.

I've just started the process - received my iva documents for signing today for the creditors. I no longer get that sinking feeling a week after payday when I realise I've got no money for food....the relief is enormous! Am braced for the phone all and letters that will arrive.
Good luck with everything

It's amazing how many people are in the same situation,, I felt embarrassed but now hold my head up,, I did the right thing when I made the phone call for help,, would recommend anyone to get help,, I've recently lost my fiancé and asked my iva to help,, they have been amazing,, support has been there.

I am glad to hear that you are getting the support, Emma.

My firm get a lot of stick ( rightly so -- and some of it from me!)but they were fantastic when my marriage went pear shaped, leaving me a single parent.

it's always nice to read positive comments about a company as all too often we only see the negative.

Shame and embarrassment are common feelings associated with debt.

Debt collectors know this all too well.

I feel ashamed of my IVA. I shouldn't but I do. Well the shame is more about my failings really. Failing to get control of my situation before I needed help.

Fortunately, this forum has been a godsend and I thank everyone on it!
