I recently visited the local volunteers bureau and got speaking to a few of the volunteers.
I asked them what had got them involved with volunteering and three or four of them mentioned they had debt issues and couldn't afford to socialise but volunteering was a way of meeting people and doing things at weekends. Two of them mentioned they were in an iva and spoke freely about the budgeting they were now doing to help them move forwards ... I was able to fully understand their situation and I proudly told them of our past ... since then we have chatted by email and they have joined the forum.

Why not consider volunteering ..you never know what the outcome will be!!

I regularly go to our Volunteer bureau and one of my dogs will be a Pets as Therapy dog - they've asked me to interview the potential volunteers now too. Think they realised how much I talk!

No mention of debt at this one but they do share with the CAB so I guess they deal with debt more maybe?

That's a nice post Luluj. I've been a Trustee with a local charity for a year and it's been very rewarding.

My dog has now passed his Pet as Therapy assessment and we will be visiting a local hospital and hospice with him.
