Had 2 letters yesterday from MBNA 1st was a reminder that i had not paid them and my account was now overdue !! Like i need reminding..
And i should contact them straight away as they have tried to contact me many times without sucsess ( DONT THINK SO WE HAVE CALL MINDER ) AND DO THE 1471 IT WHEN WE GET HOME ??
2nd Letter was to say as i am ignoring the calls and letters ( what calls ) and all letters are re-copied and returned telling them to contact melanies company ?
They say they may pass over due amount to there debt collectors WHO MAY contact me at work, Take legal action to recover the account, or report me to this and that... Is this the normal MBNA blah..I am away for a few days middle of july and the last thing i want is collectors at the door when i am away... x

tell them to stuff it ! Your IP will support you through this time and when your IVA is approved they cannot touch you ! Your heading into the right direction - remain positive!

Hi John,

I doubt collectors will call. I was threatened all the time with them. It is just one of their bullying tactics designed to scare you into phoning so they can try and get you to pay money. I have never heard of any of them turning up.

Just ignore them, they are bullies.

Like you're scared John!! ... you have the advantage over their tactics as you are addressing and dealing with your debt situation under the protcetion of the law of the land. Hang on in there.

Don't be concerned, they cannot do anything as you are protected by your IVA. I know this as I had the exact conversation with my IP last week as I have one creditor who constantly is sending me threatening letters from the collection agents!

Hi John we too had letters from MBNA yesterday. We have parceled them up and sent them Special Delivery to Melanie and her team. Ignore the letters pass them straight to Melanies office. We had solicitors letters within the first month from AMEX and a CCJ form from them and we had only ever missed one payment. Needless to say we passed them to Melanies office andwe have not heard anything since. If we get anything risky like debt collectors letters etc, it maks us feelbetter to send th special delivery (in a batch mind) to Melanies office just o they will get there more quickly. This is pobably unecessary but it makes us feel better.

Try and keep your chin up, Egg are conidering sending a representative to our house soon - lets hope I haven't got PMT on that day [;)]

I was told to simply show them a copy of my chairmans report and ask them to leave if they arrived on the doorstep.......if you are concerned why not have a few copies printed ready and literally hand one over and close the door!

Hormones are shocking things that should not be stepped on - therefore regardless of whether mine are raging or not he will certainly wish he hadn't knocked on my door......[:D] [}:)]

I have no doubt at all that nobody will come knocking, it will cost them too much. X

Hi John ... I was being sarcastic when I said about you being scared! Doesn't come across very well in a message! Like everyone has said just ignore the threats [:)]

yes i have read before on the forum these are one of the worst for torturing and being aggresive to try and get money back .Everytime they phone just say i am in the process of an iva and give them the contact number of the firm you are using they dont let up even after the iva is accepted it took a month after mine was agreed then the phone and letters stopped and then it was like sitting in a chapel[8D]

I think Mercers is on a par with them. They kept threatening but never sent anyone round.

I am not sure I would tell your creditors to stuff it after all it’s their money you borrowed and by law they have the right to attempt to speak to you about the debt. What they do not have the right to do is harass you for a payment you cannot afford.

Take control of the situation. Contact them. Make sure you have a notepad to log the call. Discuss your debt with them and let them know what you are doing about it. (pursuing an IVA). Melanie and her team don’t muck about and you will soon have a date for your creditors meeting. MBNA will try to get you to make a payment (as much as possible) but even if you feel you can afford it I would advise you to not to give them a penny (plead total poverty and put any spare money away as a contingency for when you are in your IVA) Arrange a date and a time to call them to update them and hang up. Don’t get drawn into arguments.
My creditors tried all sorts of ways to get me to pay them “do you have Sky Mr. Maxdebt? Do you think its right for you to have Sky TV and yet not pay us?” and “are you saying you can’t even pay us £1.00?” blah blah. Just close the conversation “ I’m very sorry as I have already stated I have no spare money, there is no point harassing me for money I do not have, I have made you aware of the progress of my IVA proposal, and I will contact you on .... to update you. Hang up. Note the time and date of the call. If they call you back remind them of your last conversation. If they call again that’s harassment. Ask immediately to speak to someone senior to the caller. Don’t let them intimidate you. Remember you are doing the right thing by addressing your debts.
