Hello all, #13;#10; Had a horrible day at work yesterday, the 18th teenager to be stabbed to death in London this year was brought in, despite the most monumental efforts to save him he died just after midnight, and i cannot get his face out of my mind.#13;#10;#13;#10;Does anyone have any ideas how we can stop this madness?, totally off all the topics, but still.

Oh quark, what can | say? You are doing a marvellous job and although this mindless violence needs to stop, there's only so much we can do. You and your colleagues gave this lad a chance to survive, take comfort in that.

I can't say much more on here.Something has got to be done.These ferocious gangs are doing it to kill pure and simple, it's not about gaining stripes within the gang.And this crap about it not hurting when you are stabbed is totally wrong.I cannot understand it all, and there is no way to stop it, it's here to stay for now, we will continue to pick up the mums who hit floor, the dads who crumple, and brother and sisters who fear it will be them next.#13;#10;

Hi

I too have seen many victims of knife/gun crime, and it was really hard to see both a gentleman of my same age die due to drugs, and also a girl who mother pimped her for her (The Mothers) drug habbit, she came into AMAU addicted to drugs, introduced to knife crime, with AIDS, Hepatitus and at the age of 18 thats not a good life!
I think that we need better education, a stark look at reality in Schools, show the youths what can happen due to knife / gun / sex / drug crime such as formation of cholostomies, disease and even death, that may work!

I really don't think national service is an answer,i have a horrible feeling we would just end up with the same monosylabic morons who have now been trained to shoot.
I think our troubles start with the breakdown of the traditional 'nuclear' family of mum, dad and 2.4 children.
Far too many children are part of broken families, however sad the circumstances leading to it. I believe this just leads to lack of discipline in the home.
The ongoing trend of political correctness, health and safety and human rights mumbo jumbo extends the problem into our schools.
Many children grow up fully aware of the 'you can't touch me, i'll report you to the social services' state of mind. They are products of the 'i want it now generation.'
Its a cliche that bears repeaing that many children grow up knowing the cost of everything and the value of nothing.
I was a fierce supporter of capital punishment whilst a police officer, but, since getting a bit older i have changed my mind. I really don't think it solves anything. But i do believe life should mean life, with no chance of parole.

If someone can pass me a ladder i will get off my high horse.

I work with young offenders and they seem to think that carrying knives keep them safe We keep trying to tell them that by carry knives they are in more danger. 2 lads the other day were stabbed fortunately not badly but they needed hospital treatment and this is in a rural. This incident was to do with drugs a 16 year has been arrested for the assaults.
I just feel so for the families I can't imagine what they are going through losing a child through mindless violence.

I really hope I'm wrong, but I think its gone too far to be put right. teachers have no respect anymore kids are above the law.. as they have no auhority to punish. if i child kicks off a teacher is asked what they did to provoke situation.. its just gone mental
